What is this ministry about?

The Pioneers for the Next Generation Ministry is a ministry aimed at providing training opportunities for college and career professional age group Christians.  This ministry provides learning opportunities, serving opportunities, and teaching opportunities by inviting willing participants from the local churches in the SWCBA region to plan and implement each year's conference event.  Guided by pastors within the SWCBA with backgrounds in ministry building and theological expertise, all participants who plans each year's event gains valuable knowledge to take with them to serve in their own church or church community.

†

Is the Pioneers Conference a revival meeting?  Evangelical Meeting?
Neither.  The Pioneers Conference is neither revival nor evangelical.  The purpose of the conference is to provide learning and serving opportunities to Christians such that each participant may take what they learn from the conference back to their own church, and help their church lead or participate in any revival or evangelical programs.

Will the messages be translated?  and what language will it be translated to / from?
Only the keynote message will be translated.  For 2009, the keynote message will be presented in Mandarin Chinese, and translated into English.  Cantonese translation over headsets will be available if necessary.

The workshop topics will also be translated if necessary (by request),

Who plans the programs for the conference?

Each year's conference programs and events are planned and implemented entirely by the volunteers from the local churches in the SWCBA region.  Pastors serve primarily as advisors.  All the volunteers are in the age group targeted by this conference (college students / young career professionals).  These volunteers from different regions work together to form each year's conference coworkers committee.

†

Who are your target participants?

The conference and ministry targets college students and career professional young adults who have a willingness in their heart to serve, but seeks encouragement, training, opportunities, and/or spiritual guidance to satisfy their willingness.

The programs in the conference are designed to help anyone looking to learn certain ministry skills (Personal Evangelism, Music Evangelism, etc..), or to learn to translate the skills they have to support their church or programs that glorifies God's kingdom.  The programs also encourage Christians with gifted skills to share their experience; such that others may be encouraged and serve more willingly.

Any Christian who seeks to serve God, seeks to understand His calling, and/or seeks to dedicate himself / herself to God, but needs help are encouraged to participate in this ministry; starting with participation in the conference.

†

Why do you have your conference from Sunday ~ Tuesday instead of Friday ~ Sunday?

Since our ministry is intended to support our local church, we wanted to work with a schedule that is most convenient for our local churches.  Most churches have prayer meetings on Wednesdays, fellowship programs on Fridays, and Sunday service preparation tasks on Saturdays.  Starting Sunday evening, and concluding by noon on Wednesday allows our churches to participate in the event without having to modify their program schedules.

†

Is your ministry only for Baptist Church members? or can any Christian participate?

This ministry is sponsored by the Southwest Chinese Baptist Association, but participation is NOT limited to Baptist churches.  Any Christian who have a willingness to to serve, to learn, or to teach (share their knowledge with others) are welcome to participate / volunteer.

†

What is the difference between the conference and the ministry?
The "ministry" is where volunteers participate to learn or share the 'behind-the-scenes' work involved in planning and implementing a Christian event.  Through the planning process, volunteers learn about working and sharing each other's knowledge, faith, and any /all issues to consider towards building a program for His purpose.

The "conference" is the event planned and implemented by the volunteers.  During the conference, participants may also volunteer to learn and serve in certain event specific programs (small group leaders, activity coordinators, etc..)

†

How do I volunteer?
To volunteer as a helper or a small group leader during the conference, or to find out more about volunteering opportunities for this ministry, please submit a request through our contacts page; or email us at pioneers@swcba.org.

What can I do to help?
We would appreciate your prayers that through this ministry, more people will be more willing to answer His calling, and to serve in their respective churches more willingly in order to further glorify HIS Name.

We would also appreciate your help in encouraging any college / career professionals whom you may know who are seeking for opportunities to learn or share certain skills.  If you know anyone who fits this profile, please encourage them to join us at the conference.  If you like more information, please contact us at pioneers@swcba.org

†

Do you have Children's programs?
Depending on the number of children (ages 5 ~ 12), if enough families registers before the first week of May, and have indicated that there will be children, we will then invite the local chapter of Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) to come and assist in children's programs

†

Do you have motel rooms? or will everyone stay in dormitories or lodges?
We normally reserve as many motel rooms as the camp have available for our speakers, families, and elder member participants.  If you would rather stay in a motel room, please request known as soon as possible.  We will accommodate as long as there are motel rooms available.  Please note that there will be additional charges for motel room requests.
