BRIEF HISTORY AND PURPOSES AND GOALS

Over fifteen years ago, Reverend Caleb Tang, Reverend Ted Lam, and a host of other Chinese Baptist pastors organized this Association with the hope to unite all Chinese Baptist pastors serving in the South and the Southwestern part of USA, to provide support for each other in times of needs, and to provide bridge and networking relationship with each other.

Through time, this Association developed working relationship with the Chinese Baptist Fellowship of USA and Canada under the leadership of Rev. Paul Wong. The Chinese Baptist Fellowship sponsors and organizes national conference once every two years. At this moment, there is no annual association due for membership in both organizations but free-will donations and offerings are welcome.

In order to provide closer networking relationship with our members and provide spiritual supports to our members, our Association general meets twice a year, in various locations within the states: Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, and Arkansas. We generally review and discuss our current programs, organize and develop plans in planting new Baptist churches, and plan our yearly youth and young people retreat.

The young people retreat has been a blessing to many youths and young people in the past few years, especially for our smaller Baptist churches. Speakers for this young people retreats are generally from the pool of Baptist pastors in this region and a group young professional people from several Baptist churches organize and run it cheerfully and professionally with assistance from their pastors.

Furthermore, we occasionally invite well-known spiritual leaders, seasoned Baptist pastors, or Biblical scholars to our general meetings to strengthen and enrich our serving skills in various fields. Sometimes, their insights and experience encourage and strengthen our personal walk with our Lord and provide a spark to our serves. Currently, we have over 15 Baptist pastors and ministers as our regular members.

Our newly elected officers are: Reverend Timothy Yin of First Chinese Baptist Church San Antonio, Texas as the chair, Reverend John Tsai of Agape Chinese Baptist Church of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma as the Vice-chair, Reverend Ted Lam of Church Planting, Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma as our Secretary and Treasurer, and Rev. Caleb Tang, Interim pastor of Hyde Park Chinese Baptist Church as our Association Advisor.
