Activities Report for 2005-2206

1)      Past Activities and Events

Praise the Lord that we have a total of 17 churches that are active in our Association in the past few years. Our association has approximate 40 Chinese Baptist churches and missions located in the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Texas.

In May of 2005 and 2006, Pastors Ted Lam and David Chen with a group of youth leaders organized two leadership training conferences (15th and 16th Pioneer Camp for the Next Generation 明日之光 ) using two separate Baptist Conference centers in Texas. In 2005, we had 82 adults and in 2006, we had 97 adults with eight children participating in these two events. A total of 24 leadership, discipleship, and evangelism workshops were offered and our keynote speakers were Reverend Joshua Ting in 2005 and Reverend Arnold Wong in 2006. We are grateful to the Baptist General Convention of Texas, Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma, various Chinese churches and individuals for their financial supports and the youth leaders who worked hard to organize and manage these two events.

In November 2005, the Pioneer Music Team conducted our first musical evangelistic meeting at the Southwest Chinese Baptist Church in Houston. Reverend Ted Lam delivered a powerful evangelistic message and there were many brothers and sisters recommitted their lives to the Lord. Praise the Lord that we had approximately 100 people attended this musical event.

In addition to the above, our remaining efforts focused on two top issues: ministry to the Americanized Chinese or American-born Chinese and planting Chinese Baptist churches in the Southwest area. As a result, we voted to pursue the possibility of hosting a “contextualized” Chinese church-planters seminar in summer 2006. And we also agreed to keep our current association officers for another term: Pastor Tim Yin from Texas as the chair, Pastor John Tai from Oklahoma as the vice-chair, Pastor Ted Lam from Oklahoma as our treasure, and Pastor Caleb Tang as the association advisor.
